Frequently Asked Questions

What services do you offer?

I provide Marriage and Family Therapy. This includes couples, premarital counseling, entire family units, and married couples, but I also counsel individuals if desired.

How do I get started?

Getting started is simple. Reach out through our contact form or schedule a call—I’ll walk you through the next steps and answer any questions along the way as you fill out the forms.

Why Would You Want A Student Therapist?

As a graduate clinician, I bring current, research-informed approaches to therapy along with a high level of care and attention to each client. My work is grounded in up-to-date training and is guided by ongoing consultation, allowing me to approach your concerns thoughtfully and intentionally. As one of the only Marriage and Family Therapy providers in the area, I offer a systemic perspective that focuses on relationships, patterns, and long-term change.

What area do you cover?

I provide services in Eaton, West Alexandria, and the surrounding areas, but can offer Telehealth virtual session for just about anyone anywhere in Ohio.

What if I don’t want to be recorded? How can this be helpful? I don’t want anyone seeing this.

Recordings will NEVER be seen by anyone besides myself and my school supervision. For the same reasons as why having two sets of eyes on your case is superior to only one, this ensures the absolute best attention is paid to you and your case. It also functions to ensure your protection and mine. You will always have access to your recordings if you wish to see them as well. They are all fully protected as per HIPAA guidelines and held within secure locations.

What certifications or training do you have?

I am trained in an AAMFT-accredited and COAMFTE-accredited program through IWU. I am also a member of the Professional MFT honors society and have been for a few years now while still in school. I am a member of the APA, the AAMFT, and Division 19 of the APA (Military Psychology).

How much will this cost and do you take insurance?

That’s the best part: it costs nothing. As a student and trainee, my practice is under supervision by a licensed MFT supervisor. I cannot take insurance because I cannot bill them for services yet. So, that doesn't need to be a concern for you right now while you still get the help you need.

How are MFT’s different, and why would I want to trust you over any other psychologist?

All psychologist are different. We all have our ways of doing things and the things that make our fields different. A lot of it has to do with what we focus on. For many psychologists, they are trained to focus on you and your case, looking at your support systems and the best way to help you move towards your goals of better mental health. For MFT’s, we are trained on not just what support systems you have, but how the various systems in your life also built and supported your concerns, how you can better relate to the concerns, and how you can improve your mental health while maintaining your relationships. So whether it is individual, families, couples, etc., we are focused on the entire system and people within them. We look at how to make that system function, or, at least, how you can function better within that system. So whether it is trouble with work, holidays with a parent, trouble with kids, issues with friends, relating to your spouse or SO, we can help.
